Having absentee president and vice will only open avenues for power vacuum, corruption to thrive unchecked , disrepute to kenya. Let this two gentlemen clear themselves first then come back to electorate.

Nature abhors vacuum and we don't want that power vacuum to be filled by corrupt wheeler dealers.

I can't stand when we go to foreign countries being asked humilitiatingly " oh you are a kenyan who president if facing criminal charges at the netherlands? Don't you have courts in kenya or was there no other choice!? So who runs your country in their absense?

Save us this agony. The office of presidency is so sacred to face any disrepute !

Mwana • 11 years ago

We need new leaders. Leaders with no blood in their hands , corruption records nor manipulators)PERIOD!!! Lakini we are to blame. We keep electing the same lot over and over again!!!!!

Uhuru is right. The 2 so called principals should be at the Hague. He wasn't on ballot in 08. As of grabbed land, did UK grab land in diapers? I inherited my dad's land, just like UK, how do I know how he got it fore I was born?. All politicians in Kenya since independence to date, have just been thieves, grabbers, my-tummy-first-til-puke and gave not a hoot about you and me, lowly mortals. The 10th? Parliament being the worst. Let's vote wisely but respect each other's choice. Concede defeat when beaten for the sake of KENYA, live to fight another day. God Bless Kenya and every Kenyan on Earth.

guys totally out of topic, does Uhuru Kenyatta have a wife and kids? was just wondering cause i have never heard about it.

birika • 11 years ago

For real who would have thought that Kikuyu and Kalenjin would eat from one plate ? What happened in 2007 and years before was meant to create poisonous enmity for ever. But Uhuru and Ruto have brought those two communities together. They have sowed a seed of peace in an otherwise very tough situation. Whoever does not see that positive aspect is neo-colonized.

Yeah, we walked together with my colleagues and I slipped into a mine hole as I slightly veered from them. Now am still in the hole. "Why", I cry, "aren't they in this hole with me? It is grossly unfair!"

John Paps • 11 years ago

I agree with Uhuru, Kibaki and Raila should clear their names. If uhuru becomes the president, the ICC should drop the cases against him just the same way they refused to investigate the current president and prime minister.

mkenya • 11 years ago

you still have my vote, whether in Hague or in kenya...be strong, we can also analyze what happened and make sound decisions

Peterson Olum • 11 years ago

For the umpteenth time Mr. Kenyatta, criminal responsibility is what the ICC prosecutes. In other words, you and your running mate for the 2013 elections are accused of having taken advantage of the impasse resulting from December 2007 elections to organise, fund and participate in crimes against humanity such as murder, rape, forceful evictions of persons, etc. Your guilt or innocence of the same will be determined in the next few months. In the meantime, I propose that we all focus on more critical issues like what you intend to do for the nation should be elected the president. I believe this is what you asked us to do a few weeks ago--that we should not be yapping about the ICC all the time--but rather focus on development issues. I hereby offer you the same advice

We, all Kenyans are to blame for our predicaments. We are so politically emotional.

Mohamed Ebrahim • 11 years ago

PRESIDENT Kibaki should campaign for Musalia Mudavadi openly in Central Province, as Uhuru Kenyatta in his uttances shows he has no respect for his elders.

Eugene Roberts • 11 years ago

This Uhuru guy looks spoilt sana, he's the kinda kid that when caught in problems start mentioning names and trying to implicate others? First, bahati ya mwenzako (kibaki and raila) usilalie mlango wazi 2. carry your cross and if you know your innocent...Relax why talk about it every single day!!!

Samuel • 11 years ago

This suspect should go and tell the ICC what he is saying instead of telling the press. If he has evidence that Kibaki and Raila were responsible let him go and say that at the ICC Hague. Why didn't he reveal what he knows to Justice waki Commission of Inquiry or to Ocampo, the former ICC prosecutor?

Barack Kinanga • 11 years ago

You kenya guys amaze me...I have just read your comments and just realized you have deviated from the issue above and now you have reduced it Rao and UK ...honestly I think KIBAKI, Martha Karua, the state house operatives, and Kibaki,s kitchen cabinet should go to the hague....think objectively, if you caught a thieve in your compound, do you go to jail instead????

voouma • 11 years ago

I advice he leaves this matters to his legal defence team.

Lome • 11 years ago

Uhuru, western, ICC is not banana republic, they will take you, your village wont save you, unless you become a fugitive and run into Mount Kenya or ask the dark forces to take you along, you are cooked, bensouda is just black and understands blacks better so you are cooked.

nguka • 11 years ago

I remember Raila calling on Kenyans to be peacefull and carry out peaceful demonstrations. These are legal so why should Raila be tried for these. In any case if Uhuru has/had evidence linking Raila to the PEV he should have presented it to the Waki commission or to the ICC investigators. Uhuru's argument is like that of a kid caught with sugar on his hands and face but says that he's not the only one ever to have taken mum's sugar. Carry your own cross, just face justice man; you can't convince any one that since you are indicted then your political opponets must too.

Tom Randiki • 11 years ago

It is amazing how more and more presumably thinking Kenyans are getting drawn into this ICC cesspit. We seem to be a nation in denial of the simple fact that our leaders must pass the integrity test, not because the constitution says so, but because our morals demand so. Our leaders must realise that when their right to lead is called to question, even at the slightest, their reaction of dragging their communities into the debate will not wash. There is no court, locally or internationally, where the Kenyan public, tribes, regions or counties are standing accused of crimes against humanity. Finally, I'm all for a healthy debate on the ICC and its implications. It is time to discuss and, as a nation, look into ways to diminish the fallout from whatever outcome. The ICC will not go away because it is an election year in Kenya and the sooner we make it an election issue, to be debated soberly and truthfully, the better.

bob erastus • 11 years ago

Why does Uk complain bitterly whenever his is called names but liberally mentions Raila,s and others name?

JogooKimakia • 11 years ago

UK comments on an ongoing court case is ill-advised. He does however make good political points, but this will not change his destiny with the court.

MATAMBARA • 11 years ago

You are right Mr. Kenyatta, for Mr. Raila as you stated above bore the Political responsibility together with Kibaki. The ICC did not see why it should take people with political responsibility to court and leave out those with criminal responsibility. Take it this way if you don't understand the point. It is the political responsibility of the president to create jobs for the public, but if jobs are hard to come by, you can not take the president to court for failing to create jobs. However, if the president commits murder, he will be held criminally responsible.

ThebullJ • 11 years ago

Mr. Uhuru the ICC case is not about who ran for presidency in 2007 but who was behind the killings in Eldoret, Nairobi, Kisumu, Naivasha and Nakuru and it looks like evidence singled out those to appear before ICC in the Hague...so go there and prove you didn't do it. Period.

The violence was pre-planned especially in the Rift valley, Uhuru just put out the fire but Ruto and others not in the ICC list probably instigated the whole thing

Alfotula • 11 years ago

How did he put out the fire? Why didn't the police put it off?

igutatony • 11 years ago

It was all good just a week ago but then 7 days can change, a stand up man now you sit down to point and aim! Dont be a snitch Mr Uhuru!

JohnAchima • 11 years ago

There must be a differenciating string between committing a crime and asking for justice to be delivered. In 2002 Uhuru was defeated by a big margin that he could not complain afterall, and yet the 2007 was marred by malpractices

Lubumbashi • 11 years ago

Watching Kivuitu on the verge of announcing Kibaki the winner in 2008, i recall RAO shedding tears and his statement "If you people proceed to rig this election, HISTORY WILL JUDGE YOU HARSHLY". Is this what we are seeing?

Kathungu Kathungu • 11 years ago

Uhuru, you tried to drag Raila into the ICC case while testifying in Hague.... i didnt hear you mention Kibaki! what is happening now..? i suppose "not other mashetani forces in action" pleaasee

kenyaniyetu2013 • 11 years ago

methinks UK should table the evidence he has

kenyaniyetu2013 • 11 years ago

The reason why this guys are in court is they must be very heavy evidence. Otherwise ICC would not waste time on it

LET US NOT BE VAGUE. LET US GO TO THE HAGUE.
These ominous words, coupled with the faces of defeat on Kibaki and Raila in parliament, will haunt anybody. Kibaki and Raila tried, but were TROUNCED by those who joyously sang the dirge....
LET US NOT BE VAGUE. LET US GO TO THE HAGUE.
Might it, then, be that the two principals were doing this as a way of evading the Hague themselves? I highly doubt it.

Uhuru, is the noose starting to tighten around your neck? You've been assuring us that you have nothing to fear, so why start panicking now? Oh, wait ... could it have something to do with the 80 witnesses marshalled by Bensouda against you and company? Didn't expect that, eh? Ocampo and Bensouda have done their homework. This is the international criminal court we are talking about, after all, not some two-bit local municipal magistrate's court trying street hawkers for lacking permits.

You hit the nail on the head.None of them could agree and blame is squarely to them!!!

Aminimungu • 11 years ago

I wish we could have the presidential elections held separatly,to allow the country to focus on who leads them this will help avoid confussion and reduce if not eliminate vote rigging

Nyobel Soro • 11 years ago

Seems that once Mr UK's interest are served then Kenya stands to benefit coz we'll all go to his home and eat there. If he (UK) can attest that donors will not aid nothing in Kenya when he's president then please, we need partners other than east Africa and a few individuals who are holding power to serve in order to serve their families only. Kindly give Kenya a break.

rosey daisy • 11 years ago

Arent you the same people who frustrated the local tribunals by saying 'lets not be vague its the hague' or they thot their names could never be in the envelope. too bad for you. before you champion for something targetting your enemy, think first 'what if it was me'.

royao • 11 years ago

relax man,ICC knows what is doing....that is why they are looking for new evidence,You are innocent if Kibaki is not involved which also applies to WR if RAO is not involved...chill man

Joe Kitele • 11 years ago

Mr Kenyatta, the question here is not about who was vying for the presidency, it is who met with the mugiki, who planned and financed the riots. We know you and Ruto have become friends of convinience, you want to boycot the ICC if elected. Kenya will go down like all other failed nations. Quit the lies. We have not settled the tribal issues in Kenya.
